Downloading and Managing Maps in the Earthmate iOS App

Highly detailed DeLorme topographic maps of North America, NOAA nautical charts, and detailed maps of the rest of the world can be downloaded for viewing and use in the Earthmate application for iOS devices. Use the instructions below to download maps and manage them in the application.

IMPORTANT

A DeLorme inReach for Smartphones satellite communicator is required to download and view maps in the Earthmate iOS app.

Note: A data connection is required for downloading maps. Due to the size of the downloads DeLorme highly recommends using a high-speed Wi-Fi connection.

1. Launch the Earthmate app  from the home page of your iOS device.
   Note: The Earthmate app is a free download from the App Store.
   
   
2. Tap the Map Layering button and then tap Download Maps.
   
3. Move the map of the Earthmate app so it is centered on the location you wish to download maps for and tap Next. A list of available maps for the visible area appears.
   
   
   
4. Tap on a map type to select or de-select the type for download.
   
   Note: To select or de-select specific maps, tap the arrow to the right of the map type and tap a map name. Tap Available Maps when done.
   
5. Tap the green Download button when finished.
   
   
   
6. A progress bar for your current downloads will display at the bottom of the Map Library page. Repeat this process for each location you want to download maps for.
   

Managing Maps

1. Tap the Layer Management button.
   
   
   Note: If additional map types are downloaded, these may be selected for display by tapping. Selected map types will be displayed on the main map page.
   
   
   
2. Tap Manage Maps.
   
   
   
3. Tap on a map type to select or de-select it. Types that are not selected will not appear on the main map.
   
4. To select or de-select specific maps, tap the arrow to the right of the map type and tap the map name. Tap Data Management when done.
   

Deleting Map Types

1. Tap the Layer Management button.
   
   
   
2. Tap Mange Maps.
   
   
   
3. Tap Edit.
   
   
   
4. Tap the selection icon to the left of the map type to be deleted.
   
   
   
5. Tap Delete.
   
   
   
6. Tap Done.

3. Tap the icon to the right of a map type.
   
   
   
4. Tap Edit.
   
   
   
5. Tap the selection icon to the left of the map to be deleted.
   
   
   
6. Tap Delete.
   
   
   
7. Tap Done.
