Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connections
If you are having trouble connecting your handheld to a Wi-Fi network, there are several things that may be causing the issue. Below are some examples of things you can try to resolve this issue.
Check that Wi-Fi is turned on in the settings.
Verify that Wi-Fi is connected.
If using Garmin Express, verify that Garmin Express is up to date. For instructions, see - Updating the Garmin Express Application Software.
Ensure the handheld's software is up to date. For detailed instructions, see - Installing Software Updates to Outdoor/Marine Handhelds.
Ensure the Wi-Fi network was added correctly in either Garmin Express, or in the Wi-Fi setup of the handheld (see Adding and Removing Wi-Fi Networks above).
If parental controls are enabled for the Wi-Fi network, the handheld may display "No internet connection" when connected.
Avoid using Captive Portals.
Avoid using Wi-Fi networks that use a WEP security type. For more information, see - Why Am I Seeing Unsupported Network Message On My Garmin Device?.
Try a different Wi-Fi network.
If having issues with the connection on the device itself, try adding the Wi-Fi network via Garmin Express instead (see Adding and Removing Wi-Fi Networks above). Examples of this can be problems adding the connection on the device, or an error incorrectly stating that Wi-Fi needs to be added when it was already done in the past, or the connection failing, etc.
If the Wi-Fi has been properly setup and shows that it is connected, the Wi-Fi connectivity can be verified with the Active Weather function on your outdoor handheld. Active Weather coverage areas are found in the following article: Active Weather Coverage Areas.
For best results, make sure to disable the Bluetooth on the handheld before proceeding to check that it is receiving data only through the Wi-Fi. Check your owner's manual for viewing Active Weather or disabling the Bluetooth on your handheld.

2 A maximum of seven Wi-Fi networks can be added to a Wi-Fi compatible handheld.
3 The maximum password length varies based on the security protocol. WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK has a maximum key length of 63 characters.
