The Following is Needed to Perform the Map Update:
- 16 GB USB Drive Only
The Honda Navigation System update requires a 16GB USB flash drive. Using a USB flash drive smaller or larger than 16GB can cause the map update process to be unsuccessful. The following error message may display: "There is not enough space on the device to install the map update from USB storage device."
- Using the Same USB Flash Drive for the Honda Map Update
- High-speed Internet connection
- Up to 4 hours of time (Computer and Vehicle). The map download time varies based on Internet connection speed and map region.
- The map installation will take up to one hour in the vehicle but may vary based on the map region being installed.
- During this update, your Honda navigation system must not be turned off. Therefore, the engine must be running while the vehicle is parked outside or in a well-ventilated area. Before getting started, familiarize yourself with and follow all applicable laws in your area. Please contact your dealer with any questions or concerns.
NOTE: You cannot use the same map download for multiple Honda navigation systems. Doing this will result in a locked navigation device.
Map Update Instructions:
On the Computer
1. Follow the steps in Formatting a USB Drive for a Honda Navigation System
- NOTE: Steps 1 and 9 (using Garmin Express) must be done within 24 hours of each other when performing the map update. The update process will need to be restarted from the beginning if they are not completed within 24 hours.
2. Take the USB drive to your vehicle
In your Vehicle
The following steps are required in order to imprint a unique ID to the flash drive.
3. With the vehicle turned off, plug the 16 GB USB drive into the vehicle's USB port. Any USB port in the vehicle can be used.
4. Turn on the vehicle and Select Settings on the Navigation Home Screen
- You may need to open the Navigation app on your vehicle's infotainment system to view this.
5. Select Device
6. Select Update Map
7. Select OK
8. Select OK and wait 60 seconds before removing the USB drive from the USB port

9. Remove the USB drive from your vehicle and take the USB drive back to your computer
On your Computer
10. Plug the USB drive into your computer
11. Open Garmin Express

12. Select Add a Device
- If you've previously added your device to Garmin Express, select your device.
- The green dot means Garmin Express recognizes the device.
- If you've previously added your device to Garmin Express, select your device.
13. Select Add Device
14. Select Next
- If desired, enter your email address to register the device and receive map update notifications
15. Select Next
- If desired, enter a nickname for your vehicle
16. Select Install or See Pricing
- Information about the available update can be found by clicking View Details
17. Safely remove the USB drive from the computer once the update process is completed and take the USB drive back to your vehicle
In your Vehicle
18. Turn on the vehicle
- The engine must be running while the vehicle is parked outside or in a well-ventilated area. Before getting started, familiarize yourself with and follow all applicable laws in your area.
19. Plug the USB drive into the same USB port used earlier in your vehicle
20. Select Settings on the Navigation Home Screen
21. Select Device
22. Select Update Map
23. Select Yes to continue
24. The screen will display Installing the updated map
25. Select OK after Update Successful message
26. Remove the USB drive from the USB port
To Verify the Maps Were Successfully Installed:
In your Vehicle
1. Select Settings on the Where To? screen
2. Select Map & Vehicle
3. Select myMaps
The map region and version will display on the screen.
