Difficulty Steering After Installing Shadow Drive and Shadow Drive Fittings: Normal and Verado
Fluid flow can be restricted due to improper installation of a valve or NPT fitting. If a Shadow Drive is being installed on a Verado setup, ensure/verify the fittings have been installed properly.
NOTE: Do not to use Teflon tape to seal any of the hydraulic fittings on the Shadow Drive valve, as it could deteriorate and block the fluid flow inside the Shadow Drive.
Normal Application:
Shadow Drive devices do not come with adapter fittings. If the application requires fittings, the dimensions of the fittings are 1/4" NPT and 7/16" thread depth.
NOTE: Seastar fittings may be too long and will block or damage the Shadow Drive internal ports.
Verado Application:
When installing a Shadow Drive on a vessel with Verado engines, the brass extension fittings must be installed on the Shadow Drive.
NOTE: Failure to use the extension fittings on the Shadow Drive valve will cause a flow restriction and steering the boat may become difficult.
