Installing and Pairing the Tread App

The Tread® app is a free smartphone application allowing you to connect a compatible device and a compatible smartphone.

Contact your mobile service provider for more information about your service plan’s data and roaming rates.

NOTE: There is no limit to the number of navigation devices you can pair to the Tread app, but only one can be connected at a time.

Tread 2

Tread 2 - Overland Edition

Tread 2 - SxS Edition

1. Touch Settings (gear wheel icon) DriveCam 76 Settings Gearon your Tread device 

2. Touch Phone 

3. Touch Add a Phone

  • Bluetooth is now discoverable

4. Using your phone, scan the QR code displayed on your Tread device to download and install the Tread app

  •   You can use the camera app on most phones to scan the QR code.

5. Download and open the Tread app as prompted

6. If prompted, touch Allow to allow the Tread to find Bluetooth devices

7. Touch Next through the Tread app feature screens or touch the 'X' in the top right corner to skip this. 

8. Agree to the terms of the End User License Agreement and touch Next 

9. Touch Agree to the operation of the device warning

10. Touch Pair a Device

  • If prompted, touch Allow to finding relative position of nearby devices

11. The Tread app will begin searching for the device

  • If the Tread device is found, touch Pair
  • If prompted to Quick Pair, touch Scan QR Code, or select your model device from the list

12. Verify the PIN matches on both devices, touch Yes on the Tread device and Pair on the Tread app.

  • Enter the pairing code on the phone if prompted, then touch Pair.

13. Touch Allow to allow the Tread device to receive your phone notifications or access your phone contacts. Touch Don't Allow if you do not want to allow the Tread device to receive your phone notifications.

14. Touch Sign In. Touch Create Account if you don't have an account.

15. Enter your email and password and touch Next

  • Enter the security code sent to your phone if prompted and touch Next.

16. The Tread app will ask for location permissions

  • Touch Allow Once or Only this time: To allow the app to use the location services once.

  • Touch Allow While using the app or While using this app: to allow location services while using the app.

  • Touch Don't Allow: If you do not want the Tread app to use location services.

Follow the prompts to set up additional features such as notifications setup and registration in the Tread app. 

The Tread app and Explore data will automatically communicate and sync with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.

1. Touch Settings gear iconon your Tread device 

2. Touch Wireless Networks

3. Touch Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is On

4. Download and open the Tread app on your phone and set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode

  • Refer to the owner's manual for your phone if you are not sure how to set it to Find Me/Discoverable mode.   

5. If prompted, touch Allow to allow the Tread to find Bluetooth devices

6. Touch Next through the Tread app feature screens or touch the 'X' in the top right corner to skip this. 

7. Agree to the terms of the End User License Agreement and touch Next 

8. Touch Agree to the operation of the device warning

9. Touch Pair a Device

  • If prompted, touch Allow to finding relative position of nearby devices

10. The Tread app will begin searching for the device

  • If the Tread device is found, touch Pair
  • If prompted to Quick Pair, touch Scan QR Code, or select your model device from the list
    • NOTE: The QR code is only presented on the Tread device during initial setup
    • If prompted, touch Allow to allow access to the phones camera

11. Touch Find Garmin Device

12. Touch Pair new device on the Tread device

13. On an Apple device, select the device in the Select An Accessory box when it appears

14. Verify the pairing code matches on both devices, touch Pair on the Tread device, and Pair on the Tread app.

15. If prompted, touch Allow to allow the Tread device to receive your phone notifications or access your phone contacts. Touch Don't Allow if you do not want to allow the Tread device to receive your phone notifications.

16. Touch Continue

17. Touch Sign In. Touch Create Account if you don't have an account.

18. Enter your email and password and touch Next

  • Enter the security code sent to your phone if prompted and touch Next.

19. The Tread app will ask for location permissions

  • Touch Allow Once or Only this time: To allow the app to use the location services once.

  • Touch Allow While using the app or While using this app: to allow location services while using the app.

  • Touch Don't Allow: If you do not want the Tread app to use location services.

Follow the prompts to set up additional features such as smart notifications and registration in the Tread app. 

The Tread app and Explore data will automatically communicate and sync with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.


zūmo® XT2 GPS navigator:

4. Using your phone, scan the QR code displayed on your zumo to download and install the Tread app

  •   You can use the camera app on most phones to scan the QR code.

5. Download and open the Tread app as prompted

6. If prompted, touch Allow to allow the Tread app to find Bluetooth devices

7. Touch Next through the Tread app feature screens or touch the 'X' in the top right corner to skip this. 

8. Agree to the terms of the End User License Agreement and touch Next 

9. Touch Agree to the operation of the device warning

10. Touch Pair a Device

  • If prompted, touch Allow to finding relative position of nearby devices

11. The Tread app will begin searching for the device.

  • If the zumo device is found, touch Pair
  • If prompted to Quick Pair, touch Scan QR Code, or select your model device from the list
    • Touch Allow to allow access to the phones camera, if prompted.

12. Verify the PIN matches on both devices, touch Yes on the zumo device and Pair in the Tread app.

  • Enter the pairing code on the phone if prompted, then touch Pair.

13. Touch Allow to allow the zumo to receive your phone notifications or access your phone contacts. Touch Don't Allow if you do not want to allow the zumo device to receive your phone notifications.

14. Touch Continue to the Personal Data collection notice

15. Touch Sign In. Touch Create Account if you don't have an account.

16. Enter your email and password and touch Next

  • Enter the security code sent to your phone if prompted and touch Next.

17. The Tread app will ask for location permissions

  • Touch Allow Once or Only this time: To allow the app to use the location services once.
  • Touch Allow While using the app or While using this app: to allow location services while using the app.
  • Touch Don't Allow: If you do not want the Tread app to use location services.

Follow the prompts to set up additional features such as enabling storage, notifications setup, registration, and emergency assistance in the Tread app. 

The Tread app and Explore data will automatically communicate and sync with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.
