Setting Up a Tacx NEO 2T Smart Trainer
This FAQ will cover the installation process for setting up your Tacx NEO 2T Smart trainer, including compatibility questions regarding axles, cassettes and bicycles.
Axle compatibility
Garmin Tacx smart trainers support 10/12 mm axles. The NEO 2T comes with a standard 5 mm quick release and adapter set for 142 x 12 mm & 148 x 12 mm pictured below:
For bikes with 135x10 and 135x12 the bike will need an additional adapter.
Width of rear fork:
Race 130 mm, MTB 135 mm, 142 mm & 148 mm. Adapter for 135 x 10 mm available.
The NEO 2T is compatible with Rapid Axle Technology (R.A.T.) systems.
Cassette compatibility
NEO 2T Smart trainer does not come with a cassette, but does come with a Shimano/SRAM cassette body.
We recommend a new cassette and preferably a new chain to reduce noise levels and improve your cycling experience.
Shimano/SRAM cassette body compatibility:
This is a standard Shimano/SRAM cassette body. Any 7 to 11 speed Shimano or SRAM cassette can be placed on this cassette body. A standard lockring can be used in combination with this Shimano/SRAM cassette body.
What if I need a different cassette body?
Not suitable for Specialized SCS system , Shimano & SRAM 12 speed. Additional bodies suitable for Campagnolo, SRAM XD-R, and SRAM XD cassettes can be purchased from Garmin.
