Getting Started With the inReach Messenger

If you are setting up an inReach Messenger for the first time, the following steps will walk you through the process to help you get the most out of your new Garmin.

Setting up the inReach Messenger

When powering on the Garmin for the first time, you will be prompted to configure some settings and activate with an inReach subscription.

  1. Power on by holding inReach Mini Power Buttonon the right side of the device.

    ONE SOS (Under Protective Cap)

    • Initiate or cancel an SOS request.

    TWO POWER

    • Press and hold to turn the device on.
    • While powered on, quickly press to open the Power menu.
    • Press and hold to turn the device off.

    THREE LEFT

    • Press to scroll through menus, pages, and settings.
    • Press and hold at any time to return to the home screen

    FOUR OK

    • Press to choose an option or to acknowledge a message.
    • From the home screen, press to access quick actions like Check-in Messages and Start Tracking.
    • Press to open the options menu for the page that is currently open (if available).

    FIVE RIGHT

    • Press to scroll through menus, pages, and settings.


  2. Choose your language by scrolling through the list using the Left Arrow Button or Right Arrow Buttonbuttons, then press OK to select a language.

  3. Pair your inReach Messenger with your phone and activate an inReach satellite subscription using the Garmin Messenger app.
