Incorrect Date and Timestamp on a Garmin Dash Cam

See below if a Garmin Dash Cam video has the wrong time or date.

Before troubleshooting, ensure the system software on the Dash Cam is up to date. The latest system software can be installed using Garmin Express.

An incorrect timestamp could be caused by an improper Time setting on the device if a software update does not resolve the issue. Setting the Dash Cam's Time setting to Automatic will allow the device to automatically gather current date and time information from the incoming GPS signal.

To change the Time setting:

  1. Press the button next to the  up arrow

  2. The screen should display Settings. Press the button next to  to select it

  3. Press the button next to the  down arrow until System is highlighted, then  to select it

  4. Press the button next to the  down arrow until Setup is highlighted, then  to select it

  5. Press the button next to the  down arrow until Time is highlighted, then  to select it

  6. Ensure Automatic is checked. If not, press the button next to  to enable it

The Dash Cam should now automatically insert the correct date and time into each video.

The Dash Cam's settings may need to be restored if the problem continues.

To restore the settings:

Note: Completing the steps below will restore all settings to their default values, but will not delete any video.

  1. Follow steps 1 through 4 listed above

  2. Press the button next to the  down arrow until Restore is highlighted, then  to select it

  3. Press the button next to  to reset the device

The device will now reset. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the device up again.

After completing the steps above, the device should display the correct time on newly recorded videos.
