How Does the MTB Dynamics Feature Work on My Compatible Garmin Watch
The below MTB (Mountain Bike) dynamics1 data is automatically enabled when you are using the MTB activity profile on a compatible Garmin watch.
NOTE: MTB dynamics are available on the fenix 6 series, MARQ Collection, and tactix Delta series if you are running software 9.00 or higher. The software can be updated by syncing with Garmin Express or the Garmin Connect app. See Related for additional information on updating.
Grit
Grit measures the overall difficulty of a mountain bike ride based on factors such as the speed of the ascent and descent and the angle of turns throughout the ride. This can be useful when comparing the difficulty of different trails that you ride. When you sync with Garmin Connect, you will receive a chart of the grit scores throughout the ride and your total score for the ride in Garmin Connect. You can also view the grit rating along the trail on your activity map. The more difficult the ride, the higher the grit score should be:

![]() | Moderate: 20-40 |
![]() | Hard: 40+ |
Flow
Flow measures how well you maintain speed during your mountain bike ride based on factors such as ascent, descent, and the angle of turns throughout the ride. This can be useful when analyzing your ride performance on a trail. When you sync with Garmin Connect, you will receive a chart of the flow scores throughout the ride and an overall average score for the ride in Garmin Connect. You can also view the grit rating along the trail on your activity map. Lower flow scores indicate a smoother ride while higher scores represent a ride with more speed fluctuations or stops:
