Syncing a Montana 700i/750i With the Garmin Explore Website and App
The Montana 700i/750i can be used with or without an inReach subscription. Both result in a different experience when the handheld is used with the Garmin Explore website and Garmin Explore app. For more information, see - Garmin Explore App Overview and null).
Simply put, the Garmin Explore app acts as the go-between for the Garmin Explore website and the handheld. The app and website are used to create, manage, and view recorded user data (waypoints, routes, tracks, and activities).
When paired and connected, the handheld, website, and app regularly communicate with each other. When the app syncs, it sends and receives user data between the website and the handheld. With an inReach subscription, the app also syncs account changes made on the website (such as null, Contacts, etc.) to the handheld.
Even if you only ever use the app, the website is the cloud storage for data synced from the handheld through the app.
NOTE: You must use the Garmin Explore app to sync data to and from the handheld, the inReach Sync application is not compatible.
Pairing With the Garmin Explore App
Before you can sync, you must first pair your handheld with the Garmin Explore app. Pairing instructions can be found in the following article: Pairing the Montana 700 Series with a Phone or Tablet
