DeLorme Application Crashing on Startup
Use the instructions below to troubleshoot a DeLorme application that is crashing at startup.
Disabling the 3D Tab Within Topo or XMap
A potential cause of a crash is a conflict with the video card in the computer. Use the instructions below to disable the 3D portion of the Topo software to prevent this crash.
- Close the DeLorme application.
- Click the Start button

Tab Manager.
- Clear the 3-D check box under Tab Preferences and click OK.
- Click OK in the Tab Manager message window.
The DeLorme application should launch correctly now. You may be able to use the 3-D features of the application if you update the video card drivers for your computer. Check for updates through the hardware settings of the computer.
Recreating Route Files
A DeLorme application can crash after Daylight Savings Time ends if the program attempts to open a route file created by a PN-series GPS during Daylight Savings Time. Use the process outlined below to refresh the route files and correct this issue.
- Create a new folder on your Desktop.
- On your computer, browse to C:\DeLorme Docs\Navigation.
- From the Organize menu, select Select All.
- From the Organize menu, select Cut.
- Browse to your Desktop and open the folder you created in step 1. From the Organize menu, select Paste.
- Once the copy completes, from the Organize menu, select Select All.
- From the Organize menu, select Copy.
- Browse to C:\DeLorme Docs\Navigation. From the Organize menu, select Paste.
- Once the copy completes open the DeLorme software.
DisplayLink Core Software Incompatibility
A recent update to the DisplayLink Core Software driver has caused DeLorme software to crash at startup on some computers with the driver installed. If DisplayLink Core Software is installed to a computer that DeLorme software is crashing on potential solutions include uninstalling DisplayLink Core Software from the computer, updating to a newer version of the driver, or reverting to a previous version of the driver.
