fēnix 2 Reboots when Starting a New Activity

If a fēnix® 2 watch reboots on its own when attempting to start a new activity, it may indicate that there are too many saved activity files on the unit. Saved files can be deleted individually through the watch settings, or all at once on a computer. Syncing with the Garmin Connect™ app is recommended before removing history from the device.

Deleting Activities from the Watch

  1. Press and hold the Menu/Up button
  2. Select History
  3. Select an activity file
  4. Select Delete

Deleting Activities through a Computer

  1. Connect the watch to a computer
  2. Locate and open the fēnix 2 device drive
  3. Open the Garmin folder
  4. Open the Activity/Activities folder
  5. Delete the desired files1

Once these activity files have been removed from the unit you should be able to start a new activity without the watch restarting.

1If using a Mac computer, empty the trash on the computer before ejecting the watch.
