Display and Backlight Settings on the eTrex Legend H and Vista H

Adjusting the Backlighting

Lighting conditions may make it difficult to view the eTrex® outdoor handheld display. If so, you may need to turn on the backlighting and adjust it to the desired level of brightness. Use of backlighting increases the rate of battery depletion.

1. With the eTrex powered on, press and release the Power key to display the Backlight Adjustment Slider.
   
2. Tap the Power key or move the Thumbstick up or down to cycle through the different brightness levels.
3. Press the Thumbstick in or press the Quit key to close the Backlight Adjustment Slider.

Adjusting Color, Backlight Timeout, and Brightness

1. Press Menu/Find twice to open the Main Menu page.
2. Use the Thumbstick to highlight 'Setup' and then press it in to select it.
3. Use the Thumbstick to highlight 'Display' and then press it in to select it.
4. Use the Thumbstick to highlight and select the Display Setup feature you wish to adjust:
   • Backlight Timeout - choose from Stays On or delays of 15 seconds, 30 seconds, one minute, or two minutes.
   • Backlight Level - use the slider to adjust the brightness.
   • Contrast - adjust the difference between the lightest and darkest areas of the screen.
