Garmin Device Not Counting Down When It Loses External Power

If your automotive device is plugged into your vehicle with its provided vehicle power cable and mount while you are using it, the battery should not discharge at any point.

When external power is lost, the device will normally provide a countdown with the option to cancel the device shutdown. If the device is removed from the automotive mount or vehicle power cable and shuts off immediately without counting down, you may need to update the device’s software. For instructions on updating software, follow the Software section under your device in Support Center.

After this, use your device normally in your vehicle while connected to its vehicle power cable. If the device still shuts off without a countdown after losing external power, it may need to be replaced. To set up a replacement order, contact Product Support.
