Pairing the inReach Messenger for the inReach Remote Widget

Some Garmin products have the ability to pair with the inReach® Messenger device and use some of the inReach® satellite communication features that it offers.

Even though both devices need to be in close proximity (10ft) to each other, it can be helpful to strap your inReach Messenger device on your pack or person, and then use a smaller non-inReach device for messaging, SOS, etc.

This article walks you through the process of getting these devices paired together.

Checking Compatibility

To determine if your non-inReach Garmin can use the inReach Remote widget, see - Garmin Products That Support the inReach Remote Feature.

Updating Software

Ensure that both devices have their latest software version installed. Most devices can be updated using Garmin Express™ software. For detailed instructions, see - Help with Product Updates

Enabling the inReach Remote Mode on the inReach Messenger

NOTE: These steps are not applicable when connecting to the Overlander® GPS navigator. If you intend to use your inReach Messenger with the Overlander GPS navigator, see - Pairing an inReach to an Overlander GPS navigator.
