How Do I Record a Ride Activity on My Speed Sensor 2?

Garmin's Speed Sensor 2 offers two ways to record cycling activity data:

  1. Paired with a Garmin Device: Connect the sensor to a compatible Garmin device to collect real-time speed and distance information.

  2. Standalone Device: Use the sensor independently to record speed, distance, and calorie data.

For standalone use, here are the details:

The Speed Sensor 2 automatically starts recording a ride after 15 seconds of continuous wheel spin and stops after 4 minutes of no wheel movement.

To analyze and save your recorded activities, add the sensor to the Garmin Connect app.

NOTE: The Garmin Connect app does not display real-time Speed Sensor 2 data; you can view recorded data only after the ride is complete.

The sensor can store up to 300 hours of ride data. Beyond this, the oldest data will be overwritten, resulting in permanent loss if not synced to your Garmin Connect account.

If paired with a Garmin device manufactured in 2019 or later, the Speed Sensor 2 will detect the connection and automatically disable its standalone recording feature to prevent duplicate activity uploads to your Garmin Connect account.
