Mercedes-Benz Metris/Vito Map Update USB Not Detected by Garmin Express on a Mac

USB communication issues can prevent your USB drive from being detected by the Garmin Express™ application.


Ensure the Mac Recognizes the USB Flash Drive

A USB drive will be displayed as a removable disk drive in Finder when it is properly connected to a Mac computer.

To Check Whether the Mac Recognizes the Connection:

1. Connect the USB flash drive to the computer

2. Click the Finder icon on the dock

3. Click Go in the menu bar at the top of the computer screen

The USB drive will display as a disk drive icon.

USB Drive Does Not Display as a Drive in Finder

Ensure the USB Port is Working Properly:

  • Try a different USB port on your computer and/or test the USB port with a different USB device.

  • Avoid connecting through a USB hub, USB extension cable, keyboard, or monitor.

  • On a desktop computer, use the USB ports on the back of the computer.


Restart the Computer and Try Again:

1. Click the Apple icon in the menu bar

2. Click Restart...

3. Click Restart to confirm 


USB Drive is Recognized by the Computer but Not by Garmin Express

Ensure Garmin Express is Up-to-Date:

If your Device has Already been added to Garmin Express, Try Removing the Device and Adding it Back Again:

Uninstall and Reinstall Garmin Express:

Once Garmin Express has been uninstalled, the latest version can be re-downloaded by visiting https://www.garmin.com/express
