Pairing Up to 250 Dogs for the Alpha 200
Using groups can allow you to pair up to 250 devices to your handheld. This can be beneficial for more than one reason:
- For hunters who hunt with multiple groups of dogs you can put the dogs in different groups and activate or deactivate them as needed.
- For hunters who hunt with different people throughout the week and weekend.
- For hunt clubs or search and rescue groups.
Pairing 250 Devices
To start it you should have a grasp on what Dog IDs are and how they can cause interference between dog devices and handhelds. Understanding ID Numbers and Interference
When first adding a new collar or contact the Alpha will scan and choose the best available ID, it will automatically tell you if there is interference and ask if you would like to track both devices. If you do the handheld will change one of the devices ID numbers to remove the interference.
Best Practices
There are steps you can take before going out in the field to help prevent any interference when hunting a group.
- Collect all Dog IDs and Handheld IDs from the group and write them down. Any dogs or handhelds that have similar ID number will need to be changed or not active at the same time.
- Have one handheld be the main handheld, add all the dogs and handhelds to that one and then share wirelessly or use the track/train codes to add collars to the rest of the groups.
NOTE: All collars and handhelds that are in the list must be turned on for the first 20 devices.
What 250 Dogs Looks Like
To pair 250 devices you will need multiple groups. Keeping in mind that you can only have 20 active devices at a time. The easiest example of this is having 12 groups of 20 dogs or contacts and 1 group of 10. That will give you 250 devices that are paired to that handheld.
