Creating an ActiveCaptain Card
To use the ActiveCaptain App, it must have an ActiveCaptain card inserted into the chartplotter. The data card is either a micro/SD card up to 1TB* depending on the model of chartplotter; micro/SD cards are purchased locally at any electronics retailer.
A reused micro/SD card is acceptable but needs to be formatted to clear data from the card
Do not use a preloaded chart card; use a separate micro/SD card for the ActiveCaptain App. A different micro/SD card prevents accidental erasure of the preloaded chart card

To create the ActiveCaptain card, insert the card into the chartplotter. A GPSMAP unit will create an ActiveCaptain card either powered on or powered off. An ECHOMAP unit will need to follow directions listed in the dropdown below titled ActiveCaptain Card Starting with the Chartplotter Powered ON. Instructions are below for both methods.

Creating the ActiveCaptain Card Starting with the Chartplotter Powered ON:
Insert the micro/SD card (depends on model) into the chartplotter while powered on. Most chartplotters have two card slots; either card slot is acceptable. Select the option Set ActiveCaptain Card |  |
Select Skip. If the card is new or has a preloaded chart, select Skip. Once the ActiveCaptain card is created, it should remain in the unit to use the ActiveCaptain app. |  |
When reusing a card that contains data not needed for the chartplotter, select Format Card, and all the data on the card is erased. Do not use Format Card if the card contains a preloaded chart. Select Skip; if the card is new or has a preloaded chart, select the Skip. The ActiveCaptain card should remain in the unit to use the ActiveCaptain app. |  |
Creating the ActiveCaptain Card from a Powered off Chartplotter:
When the card is being reused and contains data not needed for the chartplotter, select Format Card to erase all the card data. Do not use the Format Card if the card contains a preloaded chart. Select Skip; if the card is new or has a preloaded chart, select Skip. The ActiveCaptain card should remain in the unit to use the ActiveCaptain app. |  |
