Assembly and Getting Started Instructions for the Tacx Boost

Below are steps you can follow to complete the assembly of your trainer. Select any step to reveal detailed visual instructions to get you up and running.

WARNING: Always follow the manual instructions to ensure that the rear axle of your bicycle is properly affixed to the trainer and that your bicycle frame is not touching the trainer housing. Failure to properly attach the bicycle to the trainer may lead to property damage or personal injury. Garmin is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury due to incorrect mounting of your bicycle to the trainer.


Step 1: Check the Package Contents

Upon opening your box you should lay out all of the contents and confirm that you have everything listed below.

Step 2: Unfold the Frame and Place on a Firm Level Surface

Step 3: Determine the Tire Diameter Including the Tire on Your Bike

This is an important step as it will determine the installation position of the resistance unit. Size information is generally listed on the sidewall of the tire.

Step 4: Determine the Position of the Resistance Unit

Using the information from step 3, identify the correct position number on the resistance unit. The unit will show numbers 1, 2, and 3. You would select the number based on your tire diameter. Align the resistance unit to the frame with the correct number.

Step 5: Mount the Resistance Unit to the Frame Using the Included Bolts and 5mm Allen Key

Step 6: Install Included Quick Release Skewer and Inflate Tire to Proper Pressure

Garmin recommends the use of a trainer tire. Tires with an aggressive tread® should not be used. You can purchase this tire in a variety of sizes from Garmin here: Tacx Trainer Tire

The tire should be inflated to a minimum of 116 psi ( 8 bar).

Step 7: Connect Bike to the Trainer

Place the bike in the trainer, push down the lever, and rotate the knob clockwise until the roller slightly touches the rear wheel.

Step 8: Complete Roller Adjustment 

Pull up the lever to release the rear wheel and rotate the knob 360 degrees clockwise five full times. Then push down the lever. This will provide optimal performance in the Tacx Training app.

Step 9: Install the Resistance Lever

Measure the diameter of your handlebars and place the proper insert in the resistance lever.

Place the resistance lever on your handlebars and tighten it by turning the knob.
