Why was my Flight Plan that Included a J Route Edited or Rejected in Fltplan.com?

Effective December 5, 2019, 32 J-Routes have been added to a NOTAM marked as “NA” (Not Authorized) by the FAA. Changes impact airways to and from the southeast via the eastern seaboard and are designed to ease air traffic congestion.

The FAA started adding Q-routes to this area. With the Q-routes in place, there will be 32 J-Routes either cancelled or amended. You will be allowed to file with a J-Route, but the flight plan will be automatically amended in the system in order to comply with the new design.

On January 30, 2020, these J-Routes will be removed altogether. This means you will have to file with the newer Q-Routes and Y-Routes instead of the J-Routes. Fltplan.com has adjusted their airway data to reflect these NOTAM changes. This will prevent you from inadvertently filing a flight plan using a "not authorized" (NOTAMed) airway segment.
