Getting Started with the Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

Getting Started

It's important to properly setup the Xero® C1 Pro Chronograph for use. The Xero C1 Pro chronograph uses radar and needs to have a clear view of the projectile (arrow, bullet, pellet) flight. Placement and Mounting Considerations

Point the radar (the flat side with the Garmin logo opposite the screen) in the direction of fire. The unit should be to the side (left or right) of the rifle or bow, or below the barrel of a pistol. It is not affected by muzzle brakes or compensators.

NOTE: Always ensure you position the chronograph so it is not directly exposed to ejecting cartridge cases, muzzle blast, or other other hazards that may damage the chronograph. Also ensure it is within 5-15" of the muzzle or bow where the arrow is released.

There is no need to enter a manual position offset, the Xero C1 Pro chronograph uses an advanced algorithm that does not need position input to get true muzzle velocity.

If there are other electronic devices nearby the Xero C1 Pro chronograph automatically checks for interference and switches to a clean channel when needed, there is no need to set a channel manually. This includes interference from other radars, not just other Garmin radar-based devices.

Anything that covers or partially obscures the radar face of the chronograph can degrade or prevent the chronograph from recording shots accurately.

Mounting

The Xero C1 Pro Chronograph does not require mounting to your firearm or bow, it sits on a tripod with the radar facing in the direction of fire and located within 5-15 inches of your muzzle or where the arrow/bolt leaves the bow.

Xero C1 Attachment

While Garmin did not specifically design or test the use of this product mounted to a rifle, aftermarket manufacturers have tested the device mounted to a variety of rifle calibers and the Xero C1 Pro chronograph has worked without issue. Garmin does not warranty the product when used in a manner outside of the design content.

Software Update

Periodically you should ensure your Xero® C1 Pro chronograph has the latest software installed. Software updates can provide fixes to issues that arise or provide new features if available. The Xero C1 Pro chronograph can be updated by two methods:

  • Pairing your Xero C1 Pro chronograph to the ShotView™ app.
    • When an update is available the ShotView app sends it to the chronograph automatically.
    • The next time you start the chronograph after it has been downloaded from the app the chronograph will notify you that it is installing an update.
    • Do NOT turn off your chronograph while the update is installing.
    • After the update is complete the chronograph restarts and operates normally.
  • Connecting it to your computer using the USB port and using the Garmin Express™ program
    • If you need help installing the Garmin Express program follow the How to Install instructions below the links on the Garmin Express page for the software downloads.
    • Garmin Express software will automatically detect your device and allow you to update the software if an update is available.
