inReach Sync - Server Error: The Underlying Connection was Closed
An error message stating, "Server Error: The underlying connection was closed" will display when attempting to use the inReach Sync program on a computer running the Windows XP operating system. Support for Windows XP was fully discontinued by Microsoft on April 8, 2014 and Garmin no longer designs, tests, or supports our products on this operating system.
If you are receiving the error message on a Windows XP computer, switch to a compatible operating system and try again.

Uninstalling inReach Sync
If you are receiving the error message on a supported operating system, uninstall inReach Sync with the instructions below and download the program again from the Plans & Devices tab under the Sync & Update button of the Garmin Explore™ website.
Windows
- Open the computer's Control Panel.
- Find and select inReach Sync.
- Select Uninstall.
Mac
- Open the Finder.
- In the Go menu select Applications.
- Find inReach Sync.
- Click and drag inReach Sync to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash.

Open SSL Port
If you are still receiving the error message "Server Error: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel", there may be an issue with your firewall. You will need to allow access to the SSL port. Follow information on allowing access to the right port follow the guidelines below.
- Open Firewall settings.
- You may need to consult your network administrator for assistance
- Allow access to SSL port 443.
- Launch the inReach Sync application and sync your inReach device.
