Transferring User Data Using the ActiveCaptain App

The ActiveCaptain® app settings allow a smart device (such as a phone or tablet) to send and receive user data to and from select Garmin devices.

To Set-Up a User Data Sync:

  1. Open the ActiveCaptain app on the smart device

  2. Pair the smart device with the marine device

    • See the device's owner's manual for pairing instructions

    • If the device is "Auto-Sync" compatible and is set-up by the owner of the vessel, this is the only step required. The data will automatically sync

    • User data can be viewed and edited in the User Data menu in the Charts section of the ActiveCaptain app

  3. In the ActiveCaptain app, select Sync with Plotter

  4. Depending on the device, it may be required in the ActiveCaptain app to select either: Import From Plotter or Export to Plotter

  5. On a Garmin device that requires a "Manual Sync" a message will appear confirming the transfer. Select OK

NOTE: On some devices that are only compatible with "Manual Sync", users will need to select Import / Export.

NOTE: Any imported data can be seen and managed by selecting User Data within the ActiveCaptain app.

NOTE: User Data consists of the users "Waypoints, Routes and Tracks".
