How to Reset the Rino 100 or 500 Series
There are a few instances in which it is necessary to perform a full reset on a Rino® 100 or 500 series outdoor radio including the following:
- Not receiving a satellite signal
- Restoring the factory default settings
- Not functioning properly
The information and steps below will walk through backing up the data and resetting the device.
Before Resetting
Performing a full reset can cause loss of user data including waypoints, routes, tracks, contacts and geocaches.
It is recommended to back up important data with MapSource® (Rino 100 series) or BaseCamp™ (Rino 500 series) software before resetting. For steps, see Related.
NOTE: Contacts cannot be backed up and will be erased during a reset. Contacts can be re-added by accepting the prompt to save the contact once the other device has initiated a transmission.
Performing a Full Reset
- Power the Rino off.
- Press the Page, Enter, and Power buttons simultaneously.
NOTE: Enter is pressing the center of the thumbstick down. It is important that the thumbstick does not move to any side, as this will prevent the reset from working.
- Release all of the buttons once the Do you really want to erase all user data? message appears.
- Select Yes.
The Rino is now reset. Take the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to re-acquire satellite data.
