(2000) Service Advisory 0002 Rev A: GPSMAP 295 Safe Battery Installation

PURPOSE

This service advisory is to alert GPSMAP 295 users to the importance of correct battery installation.

BATTERY INSTALLATION WARNING

It is very important to insert ALL batteries with the proper positive (+) and negative (-) orientation, as shown on the attached warning and as indicated in the GPSMAP 295’s battery compartment.

DO NOT attempt to arrange batteries based on the orientation of springs in the battery case. It is important to arrange batteries in accordance with the indications molded into the battery case.

Installing one battery in reverse could result in improper unit operation. Immediately following new battery installation, ensure that the battery level indicator displays a fully charged battery condition. If the battery level indicator displays a partially charged battery condition, turn off the unit and recheck the battery orientation.

WARNING Improper battery installation may cause personal injury or property damage due to short-circuiting and/or battery leakage.
