Adding and Removing Maps from an inReach Explorer+

Owners of an inReach Explorer®+ handheld that is on an active account can download up to 12GB¹ of additional compatible maps from the Garmin Explore™ website using the inReach® Sync program. There is no charge for the available compatible mapping.

Be advised that having several maps on your device can clutter the map display if too many of them are selected to show. Enabling one map at a time, for your activity type, can help with showing appropriate detail. The steps below will walk you through adding and removing compatible mapping from an inReach Explorer+ handheld.

NOTE: Maps found on Garmin.com such as Topo 24k, HuntView, or BlueChart®, as well as third-party mapping products, are not compatible with the inReach Explorer+ handheld. Always sync your device after making changes to mapping. For more information on syncing, see - Updating inReach Firmware and Syncing Account Changes with inReach Sync.

Adding Additional Mapping

1. Login at the Garmin Explore website.

2. Select the Map tab.

3. Select Get More Maps.

   

   NOTE: This option is only available if the account has an inReach Explorer+ assigned to it.

4. Select maps from the list.

   NOTE: Once a map is selected, the icon will change to indicating the map will be installed.

5. Sync the inReach via the inReach Sync computer application.

   IMPORTANT: For more information on syncing, see - Updating inReach Firmware and Syncing Account Changes with inReach Sync.

Removing Additional Mapping

1. Login at the Garmin Explore website.

2. Select the Map tab.

3. Select Get More Maps.

   

   NOTE: This option is only available if the account has an inReach Explorer+ assigned to it.

4. Deselect desired maps from the list.

   NOTE: Once a map is selected, the icon will change to indicating the map will be removed.

5. Sync the inReach via the inReach Sync computer application.

   IMPORTANT: For more information on syncing, see - Updating inReach Firmware and Syncing Account Changes with inReach Sync.

NOTE: The Garmin Explore website Map page can continuously refresh and is not on a set schedule. It is recommended that you complete any changes to your map selections without pausing and coming back later to finish your changes.

¹ 12GB is only available to inReach Explorer+ models that do not come preloaded with regional data (such as Part Number 010-01735-10). For example, the inReach Explorer+ for North America (Part Number 010-01735-00) only has 2GB of free space. For more details, see - Preloaded Map Coverage for inReach Explorer+.
