Reverse Charging With inReach Messenger Series and Apple Products
When reverse charging Apple® products with the inReach® Messenger or inReach Messenger Plus satellite communicators, we do not recommend using adapters with USB-A to Lightning cables. These cables have proprietary electronics in them that can control the passage of power. Instead, we recommend using a direct USB-C to Lightning cable.
Using Reverse Charging
From the home page, press
or 
to scroll through the main menu options.Select SETTINGS > System > Reverse Charging.
If prompted, select Yes to turn on the feature.
Connect the inReach device to the device you want to charge using a USB cable.
The Reverse Charging feature stays on for a maximum of 20 minutes before turning off automatically.
If necessary, repeat steps 1 through 4 to continue charging.
NOTE: If the inReach device battery drops below 25 percent, the Reverse Charging feature stops automatically.
