Viewing External Media on a GPSMAP 8400/8600 Series Device

The GPSMAP 8400 / 8600 series of devices can be connected to an external source such as a phone or tablet to display video. With the NMEA 0183 with Audio Cable, audio can also be played from the chartplotter to an audio system.


Connecting the chartplotter to an audio source

  1. Connect the NMEA 0183 with Audio Cable to a compatible chartplotter

  2. Use two RCA cables to connect the AUX input on a compatible stereo to the Left and Right outputs on the NMEA 0183 with Audio Cable

  3. Power on the connected chartplotter

  4. From the Home screen, go to Options > Settings > System > Sounds and Display > Audio Setup > Audio Output (should be set to On)

  5. Select Home > OneHelm AV Gauges > Media > Source > AUX

Audio from the chartplotter will now play through the audio system.


Connecting the chartplotter to a video source

  1. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI IN port on a compatible chartplotter

  2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the video source

    • If the video source is a phone, tablet, or other mobile device, an HDMI-to-USB adapter may be needed

  3. Power on the connected chartplotter

  4. From the Home screen, go to OneHelm AV Gauges > Media > Video > Options > Source > Show All > HDMI

Video from the source will now display on the chartplotter.
