How to Reset Montana 600 Series
There are a few instances in which it is necessary to perform a full reset on a Montana® 600 series outdoor handheld, including the following:
- Not receiving a satellite signal
- Restoring the factory default settings
- Not functioning properly
The information and steps below will walk you through backing up your data and resetting.
Before Resetting
Performing a full reset can cause user data loss. User data is waypoints, routes, tracks, activities and geocaches.
It is recommended to back up important data with BaseCamp™ software before resetting. For steps, see Related.
If removing data is desired to eliminate corrupt data or free up space, see Related.
Performing a Full Reset
- Power off the Montana handheld
- Press and hold a fingertip on the upper left-hand side of the touchscreen (can be done in portrait or landscape)
- Press the power button to turn on the Montana handheld
- Continue holding the screen until the message Do you really want to erase all user data? appears
- Release fingertip from the screen
- Touch Erase
The Montana handheld is now reset. Allow the device to sit in a clear view of the sky for about 20 minutes to refresh the satellite data.
