Route Preferences on a Vieo Series Infotainment Device Explained
Like most devices equipped with Garmin automotive navigation features, the Vieo series of infotainment products have several Route Preferences that can be adjusted to optimize route creation. To view these settings:
- From the home page, select the
Apps icon
- Select Tools
- Scroll down and select Settings
- Select Navigation
- Select Route Preferences
Here will be a list of each setting used to optimize route creation.
Calculation Mode
Calculation Mode dictates what roads the navigation will prioritize when creating a route.
- Faster Time will minimize the time it takes to reach a destination by prioritizing roads with higher speed limits, fewer traffic lights, etc
- Off Road disables all other navigation settings and features, drawing a straight line to the destination
- Shorter Distance will minimize the total distance traveled to the destination, but may prioritize roads with lower speed limits, more traffic lights, etc
Avoidances
Each checked item in Avoidances will prevent the navigation from creating a route that requires any of these options be used, unless there is no other route to the destination.
Environmental Zones
Some areas have environmental protections placed upon them such as chemical usage and emission allowances. When a route requires travel through an area where your coach may violate these protections, the navigation has options for avoiding it.
- Always Ask - The device will always ask if you wish to continue a route with protected areas, or find an alternate route
- Avoid - The device will automatically avoid protected areas
- Allow - The device will automatically use the optimal route regardless of restrictions
Toll Roads
Some roads along a route may require tolls or fees. The Toll Roads setting allows navigation to use or avoid these roads when calculating a route.
- Always Ask - The device will always ask if you wish to continue a route with tolls or find an alternate route
- Avoid - The device will automatically avoid toll roads
- Allow - The device will automatically use the optimal route regardless of tolls or fees
Restricted Mode
Restricted Mode is a safety feature that prevents functions requiring driver attention from being used while the vehicle is in motion.
Travel History
Travel History stores information on where the device has been and uses it for several different functions:
- myTrends takes note of where the vehicle travels on what days and times, and will offer destination or route suggestions based on these trends
- Trip History is a record of addresses, points of interest, and coordinates the device has created routes to
- Trip Log is a feature of Map Layers that draws tracks on the map along the routes the device has driven
Clear Travel History
Clear Travel History erases all data the device has stored in the Travel History feature.
