(2011) Service Advisory 1101 Rev A: GDL 69/GDL 69A TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) Reporting Issue

AFFECTED PRODUCTS

GDL 69/69A Units with software version 3.40 or earlier that are interfaced with any of the following:

G1000, G900X, G950, Perspective™, or Prodigy™ Integrated Flight Decks with GDU software version 9.10 or later, MX20, GMX 200, G600/G500 Systems, GPS 400W/GNC 420W/GNS 430W/GPS 500W/GNS 530W Units.

DESCRIPTION

Under certain conditions (depending on the geometric shape of the TFR), the GDL 69/69A software version 3.40 or earlier may omit or display incorrectly some TFR information at low zoom levels.

PILOT ACTION

Pilots flying GDL 69/69A-equipped aircraft should confirm TFR information in their pre-flight briefing. Pilots should not rely on the displayed TFR information to keep out of TFR areas.

RESOLUTION

Garmin plans to correct this issue in a later software version for the GDL 69/69A.
