Auto Guidance+ is Returning a Gray Line in the Navionics Boating App
What to Do if a Gray Line is Produced During Route Creation Using Auto Guidance+™
Verify Your Boat Settings
Auto Guidance+ technology uses your boat draft and height, as well as shoreline distance, in order to create a safe, navigable route.
Verify your boat settings by doing the following:
- Select Menu from the bottom of the map screen.
- Select your Name/Me at the top of your menu.
- Select Boat to configure your settings.
This information can also be accessed from the active route screen by tapping on the link to "boat settings" under your total length, time and fuel consumption information.
Check Water Level
Setting the water level higher or lower than normal (0 ft/mt/ftm) can affect what the Navionics® Boating app considers safe depth. You can adjust your this setting by going to Menu > Map Options. You can also adjust all of your map options back to default by tapping the Reset default values button at the bottom of the same screen.
Re-Download Maps for the Area of Travel
You may need to update the mapping information for the area you are trying to create the route. This allows the app to create the route using the most up-to-date charting information.
See Navionics Boating: Downloading a Map. We suggest not using the Update Maps option in this instance.
Place an Additional Point Somewhere Along the Route
The longer the route you are trying to create, the more active memory of your device will be used. Creating an additional point along your path will allow the app to create the route in steps.
To add a point during route creation or editing, press and hold somewhere along the route line and drag the point somewhere along your intended path of travel.
Further Support
In case the above checks do not resolve the issue, email the following to navionics.support@garmin.com:
- Screenshot(s) and coordinates of the locations you are attempting to route from and to
- A screenshot of your boat settings
