Garmin DriveAssist™ 51 Prompting to Format the Memory Card
After inserting a microSD memory card into the video memory card slot on the Garmin DriveAssist™ 51, the device may display the following message:
This message will appear if the microSD card was formatted on a Windows computer prior to being inserted into the Garmin DriveAssist™ 51. The device will need to format the card itself, as a card that has been formatted with a Windows computer can encounter problems when used in the device afterward.
Touching Yes will format the microSD memory card, and all data on the card will be erased. If you have any files on the card that need to be saved, touch No, then back up the card's data to your computer or another device. Once all desired data has been backed up, re-insert the card into the Garmin DriveAssist™ 51, and touch Yes when the prompt appears in order to properly format the SD card. The saved/backed up files can then be reloaded to the memory card, if desired.
Once the card has been formatted by the DriveAssist™ 51, the message will not appear again unless a different Windows-formatted microSD card is inserted.
Additionally, the video microSD card can be manually formatted in the device.
