Creating Custom Audio Files for PRO Control 2 Remote Release

Sound can play a primary role in training with a remote release device.  Sound emitted from the remote release will aid the dog launcher location and target acquisition.  

Before creating a custom wav files for the PRO Control® 2 receiver, ensure the device software is up-to-date.  Device software can be updated using Garmin Express*.  It is recommended that the factory audio files be backed up for future use.

Wav File Compatibility Requirements for the PRO Control 2 Receiver:

  • Maximum of 3 sounds.
  • Custom sounds maximum of 48 seconds in length (combined) in mono format (preferred) or up to 24 seconds in stereo.
  • Files must be 32kHz, 16bit and in a .wav format.
  • Custom files must be named “1.wav” or “2.wav” or “3.wav”
  • Files are placed in the Garmin PRO Control 2 RR drive: \ GARMIN \ WAV folder.

Garmin does not supply an audio file editor.  Third party software will be needed to create or edit custom wav files.


To Transfer .wav Files to the PRO Control 2 RR:

  1. Connect the device to a computer
  2. Select the Garmin PRO Control 2 RR drive (typically found in My Computer/Computer or as a mounted volume on a Mac Desktop) where the images are stored
  3. Select the Garmin folder
  4. Select the WAV folder
  5. Save compatible WAV file to folder

Typical Editing Software Steps would Include:

  1. Opening or importing audio file into the third party software
  2. Edit as needed for duration and audio level
  3. Save As: 1.wav (or) 2.wav (or) 3.wav
    • Specify .WAV file
    • Sample Rate: 16bit
    • Frequency 32kHz
    • Mono (preferred)
    • Choose a location
  4. Select: Save or OK

* PRO Control 2 Remote Release is not compatible with the Garmin WebUpdater
