Why Am I Not Getting Dive Entry or Exit Points?

When recording a dive activity Garmin dive computers will save your entry and exit points for surface navigation as long as they have acquired GPS signals before and after the dive. If you are not getting entry or exit points on your dives, see the information below for troubleshooting tips.

Missing Entry Point

If you use the Auto Dive feature and are missing an entry point, your dive computer might not have had a GPS signal before entering the water. Without a GPS connection the dive computer does not have a location and will not save an entry point. To ensure you get an entry point, follow the steps below. Most devices will follow these steps, but for more details see your owner’s manual.

Steps for Descent Dive Watches

1. Press START/STOP.

2. Select a dive type.

3. Confirm dive settings.

4. Wait with your arm out of the water for the Descent to acquire GPS signals.

5. Descend and begin your dive.

Steps for Descent X50i Dive Computer

1. Select Dive Mode.

2. Select a dive type.

3. Select Start Dive With.

4. Confirm dive settings.

5. Wait with your arm out of the water until the dive computer acquires GPS signals and GPS turns green.

6. Select Confirm.

Steps for fēnix 8 and tactix 8 Watches

1. Press START/STOP.

2. Select Activities.

3. Select Diving, and select Scuba Dive or Apnea Dive.

   NOTE: The first time you do a diving activity, you must select the Diving category before choosing a dive type. The selected dive type is added to your favorite activities list (Customizing Your Favorite Activities List).

4. Wait with your arm out of the water until the dive computer acquires GPS signals and GPS turns green.

5. Descend and begin your dive.

Missing Exit Point

If you exit the water and the dive ends before a GPS signal is obtained you may not get an exit point. Without acquiring GPS signals you will not receive an exit point. To ensure you get an exit point, you can increase your End Dive Delay time to ensure a GPS connection is established after exiting the water.

1. Access Dive Setup.

   • • Watches: Hold UP/MENU from the watch face, then select Dive Setup.

     • Dive Computers: Select Dive Setup from the main screen.

2. Select End Dive Delay.

3. Adjust the number of minutes and seconds for the delay.
4. Press START/STOP to confirm.
