"Not a Valid Win32 Application" Error When Installing a Garmin Application

The error Not a Valid Win32 Application occurs when a corrupt executable file is run on a Windows computer.

This error can occur under a variety of circumstances.

If you are Receiving This Error When Running a Garmin Application:

  • The file may be corrupt. This is the most common reason for this error. To resolve the issue, try downloading the file again. If the same error occurs, try downloading the file in a different Internet browser. If the issue persists and you are using  Microsoft Edge, try saving the file to the hard drive before running it.
  • The file is stored on media that is unreadable. If the file was copied to a CD/DVD or USB Memory Stick, ensure the disc is clean (if using a CD/DVD) and copy the file to the media again. If the issue persists, try running the program from a different location. 
  • Malware is altering the downloaded file. To control for this, update your antivirus and security software and run a full scan before trying to download the file again.
  • Internet or Security settings are altering the download. Internet security applications, firewalls, browsers, and routers may need to be configured so that the file can be downloaded. This may require that security software or hardware configuration settings are changed or even temporarily disabled. For information about changing these settings or how to disable security, refer to the help documentation for the particular application or contact the vendor.

Once the file has been properly downloaded, the error should not occur.
