Error "LoadLibrary Failed with Error 1114" When Opening BaseCamp

BaseCamp™ software may display the error LoadLibrary failed with error 1114 when the graphics settings on the computer are not configured to run BaseCamp software in 3D mode. 

To run the BaseCamp program with the current graphics settings, it will need to be launched in 2D mode.  

To Create a Shortcut to Run BaseCamp Software in 2D Mode:

  1. Right-click a blank area on the Desktop
  2. Click New
  3. Click Shortcut
  4. Type or copy and paste one of the following paths into the text box:
    • 64-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp\BaseCamp.exe" /Disable3D
    • 32-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\Garmin\BaseCamp\BaseCamp.exe" /Disable3D
  5. Click Next
  6. Change BaseCamp.exe to BaseCamp 2D (optional)
  7. Click Finish

Double-click the new shortcut on the desktop to open BaseCamp software in 2D mode


If 3D Mode is Desired, the Switchable Graphics Settings can be Changed on Computers with Catalyst Control Center Installed:

  1. Ensure that the graphics drivers are up to date
  2. Open Catalyst Control Center
    1. Click Start
    2. Type Catalyst Control Center
    3. Click Catalyst Control Center
  3. Click Power
  4. Click Switchable Graphics
  5. Under Other Applications, click Browse
  6. Browse to one of the following locations depending on your OS:
    • 64-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp\BaseCamp.exe"
    • 32-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\Garmin\BaseCamp\BaseCamp.exe"
  7. Double-click BaseCamp.exe
  8. Click Not Assigned and select High Performance
  9. Click Apply (at the very bottom)

After following these steps, the error LoadLibrary failed with error 1114 should be resolved.
