Using the inReach Remote on a Compatible Edge Device

When you have an inReach® satellite communicator paired to an Edge device, you will have an inReach Remote listed in the device's widget loop.1 From this widget loop you will be able to do the following:

  • Send an SOS message

    • NOTE: You should only use the SOS function in a real emergency situation.

  • Send a Check-in/Preset message

    • NOTE: Check-in messages have replaced preset messages as of September 27th, 2022. inReach® accounts set up prior to this date will still have preset messages available, but any new accounts created after this date will use check-in messages.

    • Check-in/Preset messages are configured for the inReach product and set up through explore.garmin.com. Check-in/Preset messages have predefined text and recipients.

  • Send a text message

  • View the timer and distance traveled during an inReach tracking session.

Pairing an inReach Device With an Edge

For instructions on your specific Edge, refer to your owner's manual.

  1. Power on the inReach and enable ANT+ or inReach Remote. Select your inReach device below for steps:

  2. On the Edge, access the settings menu.

  3. Select Sensors.

  4. Select Add Sensor.

  5. Select inReach.

  6. Select your inReach, then select Add or Add Sensor.
