DC 20, DC 30 or DC 40 Consistently Losing Range
There are various factors that may contribute to decreased range over time between a Garmin dog tracking collar (DC™ 20, 30, or 40) and an Astro® dog tracking handheld.
Some of these factors may include the following:
- Radio interference from Marine band radios that can damage the Astro receiver.
- The MCX connection is not securely connected to the DC 30 collar. This will either prevent pairing with the Astro handheld or will transmit intermittently. The below image shows the MCX connection.
- The Astro may be dropping communication with a collar when using dog unit ID frequencies 0-9. For more information on frequencies and Communication settings, please see related content.
- External interference particular to a specific area. Examples of external interference are radio towers or additional handheld radios
Being aware of the above factors can help enhance the Astro system's tracking experience.
