- Connect the Alpha® 100 dog tracking handheld to the computer using the provided USB cable
- If prompted, select No to BaseStation Mode
- Open the BaseCamp program
- Close all the introductory pop up windows: Welcome Screen or Task Launcher
- Wait for the device to be listed and fully loaded in the Library on the left of the BaseCamp program
- This may take up to 10 minutes for the device to load if it is the first time connecting to BaseCamp software
- Any running progress bar listed under the device must complete
- From the BaseCamp program's Menu:
- Select Device
- Select Receive from Device
- Select the handheld's Internal Storage
- The data will be saved in a new folder under My Collection called "Data Received from Device"
- Right-click the Internal Storage folder below the device
- Select Eject

Transferring Waypoints from My Alpha 100
If you would like to save and transfer your old waypoints from a previous Garmin handheld product to a new dog tracking handheld, you can first save the original handheld's data on a computer with the Garmin BaseCamp™ trip planning software for Windows or Mac. Once the data has been received into BaseCamp program's library, the data can then be sent to a new compatible dog tracking handheld.
First, download and install the BaseCamp program to your Windows or Mac personal computer
- Connect the new Dog Tracking handheld to the computer using the provided USB cable
- If transferring waypoints to an Alpha 200 handheld, when prompted to go into Mass Storage Mode, tap Yes on the touchscreen.
- If transferring waypoints to a replacement Alpha 100, when prompted to go into Basestation mode, tap No
- If transferring waypoints to an Alpha 200 handheld, when prompted to go into Mass Storage Mode, tap Yes on the touchscreen.
- Open the BaseCamp program
- Wait for the new handheld to load and be listed on the left of BaseCamp program's Library
- This may take up to 10 minutes to load if it is the first time connecting to BaseCamp software
- Wait for the new handheld to load and be listed on the left of BaseCamp program's Library
- In the Library, under My Collection, Right-click the "Data Received from Alpha 100" folder
- Select Send To
- Select Internal Storage
- Allow for the data to finish transferring
- A green check mark will appear on the Internal Storage when it is finished
- Right-click the Internal Storage folder below the listing of your Dog Tracking Handheld
- Select Eject
The data has now been transferred to the new handheld
