Garmin Chartplotter Does Not Qualify for a Chart Update

Garmin Express™ may display a message that the registered marine device does not qualify for a chart update. There are a few reasons why this can happen:

  • The chart is an older version than 2012

  • The chart is on a handheld device

  • The chart is counterfeit

  • The chart is registered to another owner or account

    • Pre-programmed micro/SD charts and built-in chart registration cannot be transferred from a previous owner to a new owner.

A purchased map will provide updated charts for the device. These charts can be obtained by visiting one of our retailers or by visiting http://www.garmin.com/maps/updates/?/marine.
