Remove and Add a Device From the Garmin Connect App

There may be times when you need to remove (unpair) and add (re-pair) a device in the Garmin Connect™ app, such as when troubleshooting Bluetooth® connection issues or when replacing a Garmin® device.

IMPORTANT: Garmin Pay wallets are deleted when you remove a device from the Connect app. The wallet will need to be recreated once you have added your device back to the app.

Step 1: Remove Device From the Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select the name of your device.

  5. Select 3 blue dots (top right).

  6. Select Remove Device.

  7. Confirm you want to remove the device. 

NOTE: If your device is listed only under the Registered to Garmin Connect section of the Devices menu, it is already unpaired from the Garmin Connect app and you can proceed to step 2.


Step 2: Remove Device From the Phone's Bluetooth Settings

Android

  1. Open the Settings app for your Android.

  2. Select Connections.

  3. Select Bluetooth.

  4. Locate the Garmin Device listed in the Bluetooth list and select Android gear icon.

  5. Select Unpair.

  6. Confirm you want to unpair.

Edge® cycling computer users will need to walk through these additional steps:

  1. Access the menu on your Edge.

  2. Select Connected Features or Phone.

  3. If your phone is listed, select it.

  4. Select Forget Phone.

  5. Confirm.


iOS

  1. Open the Settings app for your iPhone/iPad.

  2. Select Bluetooth.

  3. Locate the Garmin device in this list and select circle with lowercase i.

  4. Select Forget This Device.

  5. Confirm you want to forget this device.

  6. Power your iPhone/iPad off.

  7. Power your Garmin device off.

  8. Power them both back on.

Edge® cycling computer users will need to walk through these additional steps:

  1. Access the menu on your Edge.

  2. Select Connected Features or Phone.

  3. If your phone is listed, select it.

  4. Select Forget Phone.

  5. Confirm.


Step 3: Add Device to the Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Place your Garmin device into pairing mode. This allows the Garmin Connect app to find it.

    • This setting is typically found under Settings > Connectivity, Bluetooth or Phone > Pair Mobile Device or Pair Phone. Refer to your owner's manual for specific steps. Your watch will indicate that it is in pairing mode with an image, QR code or text.

  5. Select Add Device in the Garmin Connect app.

  6. From the Garmin Connect app select Start or Connect it.

  7. Input or verify the six-digit code from the Garmin device into the prompt on the phone.

Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup of your device. A sync should occur during this process and your Garmin device should display a green dot from the My Day view of the Garmin Connect app, indicating a connection with your mobile device.
