Fragmented Compass Arrow and the Difference Between Bearing and Course Pointers
Some of our devices provide a Bearing Pointer or a Course Pointer option when using the compass page to navigate to a location. The Bearing Pointer always points in the direction of the destination, and always displays which way you should turn to reach the destination. The Bearing Pointer will always appear as a solid line pointed at your destination even if you go past it.
A Course Pointer is intended to point in the direction of the original course to a destination, and then provide reference to your current location in relation to that original course line. If you drift to the left of that original path, then the Course Pointer will appear as a broken line
with the middle section moving to the right side of the screen. The dots on the screen
are a course deviation indicator to provide a reference of how far off that original course you are. If you happen to go past your destination the Course Pointer will still point in the direction of the original course to the destination, it is not tied to the actual destination like a Bearing Pointer.
For the arrow to appear as a solid line and to always point to your destination, the Bearing Pointer option should be selected.
