The Collections Manager on the GPSMAP 86 series

The Collections Manager allows a user to select which Collections are active on a GPSMAP 86 when synced with the Garmin Explore App, which helps to organize what user data is visible on the handheld.

The recently added Collections Manager via a recent software update for the GPSMAP 86. If the Collections Manager icon is missing on the main menu, add using the following instructions:

Adding the Collections Manager to the Main Menu

  1. Power on the GPSMAP 86

  2. Go to the Main Menu

  3. Press MENU

  4. Press ENTER on Change Item Order

  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Add Page

  6. Select Applications

  7. Select Collections Manager

Accessing and Using the Collections Manager

  1. Press the MENU button twice to reach the Main Menu

  2. Select Collections Manager

  3. The Collections synced to the GPSMAP 86 will display additional information and options

    • Each Collection lists the number of waypoints, tracks, routes, and activities

  • The message No Collections found indicates the handheld needs to be paired and synced with the Garmin Explore App. For steps, see Related Content

  • To enable or disable an individual Collection, select the toggle for it:

      • The Collection is enabled, and the user data is listed and usable on the handheld

      • The Collections is disabled; this hides user data on the handheld.

    • To enable or disable all Collections, press the MENU button and Enable All or Disable All

Enabling or Disabling a Collection

When a collection(s) is/are enabled or disabled, the data contained within it will either be available or not available within its respective menu:

  • Tracks under Saved Tracks

  • Waypoints under Waypoint Manager

  • Routes under Routes Planner

  • Activities under Recorded Activities
