inReach Handheld Antenna Minimum Safe Distance Requirements
Garmin inReach® satellite communication handhelds are evaluated at a separation distance of 0mm. The minimum safe distance requirement comes from the high power used on inReach devices to transmit on its Iridium antenna. The device emits radio frequency (RF) energy below the published limits for portable use when operating in its maximum output power mode and when used with Garmin authorized accessories. inReach device RF transmitting capability exceeds 100mW.
inReach handhelds include, but are not limited to, the following outdoor handhelds:
Alpha® 200i
Alpha® 300i
inReach Explorer®+ or inReach SE®+
inReach Messenger
inReach Messenger Plus
inReach Mini
inReach Mini 2
GPSMAP® 66i
GPSMAP® 67i
GPSMAP® 86i or 86sci
Montana® 700i, 710i, 750i, or 760i
Other handhelds without inReach technology (except for Rino® 2-way radios) do not have safe distance requirements as they do not use transmitting antennas. GPS antennas act as receivers only.
IMPORTANT: Garmin is compliant with all necessary transmitter and receiver regulatory testing within the markets we sell. If concerned about the inReach interfering with a Pacemaker, talk to a medical professional or the Pacemaker manufacturer.
