NOTE: HomePort™ software has been discontinued. For additional information regarding the discontinuation, see HomePort Application Discontinued

User data such as routes, tracks, and waypoints can be exported from HomePort to be shared or used with other third-party software. The exported files can also be used to back up the user data or transfer it to a different computer or device.

Note: Marine devices are only compatible with the .gpx file format. See File Extensions for Transferring User Data From a micro/SD card to a Marine Device for more information.

The following file formats are available:

It is recommended to use the .gpx or .gdb formats if the data is being exported as a backup, or intended to be used with another Garmin application. The other formats are primarily used if the data is meant to be transferred to a third-party software program such as Google Earth, which uses the .kml file format.

To export user data:

  1. Open the HomePort application

  2. Select the information to be exported:

  3. Select the File drop-down menu

  4. Select Export

  5. Select an option export the folder / list or the current selection

  6. Select a name, format, and location to save the exported data

  7. Select Save

The file containing user data from HomePort has now been exported and saved.
