Is Optical Heart Rate Tracking Accurate With a Pacemaker, ICD, or Other Heart Conditions?
WARNING: The data and information provided by Garmin wearables is intended to be a close estimation of your activity and metrics tracked, but may not be precisely accurate. Garmin wearables are not medical devices, and the data provided by them is not intended to be utilized for medical purposes and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Garmin recommends you consult your doctor before engaging in any exercise routine. For more information see: Activity Tracking and Fitness Metric Accuracy.
Pacemakers and ICDs are generally not expected to directly interfere with readings from Garmin's optical heart rate sensor. However, because individual heart conditions (including those managed by these devices) can introduce unique physiological variables, we cannot guarantee general heart rate data accuracy for all users with such conditions. It's also important to note that for watches using Heart Rate Variability (HRV), accurately calculating HRV data and related metrics (such as sleep tracking) may be affected if you have a pacemaker, ICD, or other heart condition, as these may affect the natural variations in your heart rhythm.
