Simulating a Route on an Automotive Device
Simulating a route allows you to see how the device will navigate you without actually driving the route: the vehicle icon will move on the map, and the device will speak the turn instructions. This feature is useful when you are in a location where a satellite signal cannot be accessed or for calculating a planned route.
To simulate a route, you will need to turn the Location settings to Off on your device.
To Turn the Location Off on Your Device:
- Touch Apps
- Touch Tools
- Touch Settings
- Touch Personal
- Touch Location
- Touch the switch icon
in the top-right corner of the screen to turn it
gray, which will turn Location off
You may now use the device to simulate a route to a given destination.
To Simulate a Route From a Different Starting Point than Your Current Location:
- Touch Apps
- Touch Apps again
- Touch Search
- Locate and select the starting point (address, POI, city, intersection, etc.)
- Touch the
info button
- Scroll down and touch Set Location
- If the device does not give the Set Location option, follow the steps below to stop the active route, then repeat the steps above:
- Go to the main menu that displays Race and Chase Map
- Touch the Stop button to stop the active route
The device will now indicate that your current location is that of the location entered in step two. To simulate a route from that set location, return to the main menu, and enter the destination. When asked if you would like to simulate driving the route, touch Yes.
Note: If the two locations are separated by the ocean (e.g., starting in the US and attempting a route simulation to a point in Europe), the device will attempt the calculation but will not succeed. Instead, it will return an error stating that it cannot calculate the route. This can be corrected by placing both points on the same continent.
