SD Memory Card Compatibility for the Garmin Catalyst
The Garmin Catalyst requires a microSD card to record your drive.

Additional information:
- microSD cards can be purchased from many retailers
- SD memory cards wear out after they are overwritten a large number of times
- Your device detects memory card errors automatically and alerts you when it is time to format or replace your memory card
- The Garmin Catalyst displays the following message when the memory card is the wrong format
- “Card Must Be Formatted.” “Formatting the memory card will delete all videos, photos, and data on the card.”
- The Garmin Catalyst displays the following message when the memory card is at the end of its life and becomes too slow
- “Memory Card Too Slow.” “The memory card does not meet the recommended speed class. Use a memory card rated at speed class 10 or higher.”
To help extend the useful life of your SD card:
- Back up saved footage and format the memory card at least once every 6 months
- Use a memory card with a higher storage capacity
- Higher-capacity memory cards are overwritten less frequently and will usually last longer
- Use a high-quality memory card with a speed rating of class 10 or higher
- Purchase your replacement memory card from a high-quality manufacturer and a reputable vendor
